It is time to take a break. A break from politics, a break from technology, a break from work, a break from life’s responsibilities - it is time to take...wait for it….
AN ANIMAL BREAK!
Today, we cover my five favorite animal feeds on Instagram. It is a tough call - narrowing this down - but I have given it my best shot. So take that well-deserved time to yourself, visit some of my favorite furry friends, and bask in the joy that these fuzzy critters and their creative owners bring into this world.

Princess Cheeto was adopted in 2012 by Hugo Martinez after he relocated to New York City from California. As with any furry feline, her interests include laser tag, sleeping, hiding and all the little joys that make a cat a cat. Even more interesting are the imaginative scenes developed by Hugo using Princess Cheeto as the model. These creative photo concoctions have resulted in amazing collaborations with companies like Amazon, Steve Madden and Smirnoff - not even to mention an Instagram following of over 105K.
Whether portraying sushi-cat or hiding in her own shadow due to an extended East Coast winter, the colorful combinations, unique scenes and love with which Hugo and Cheeto work together cannot be overlooked or under appreciated.

If you have not yet been introduced to Yoda the dog, you can thank me later. Maria and Yoda are an endless source of visual inspiration, traveling around in their converted camper with Henri, Maria’s partner. Whether standing on the top of a mountain after a long hike, rowing on a lake at dawn or tromping through the crunchy leaves of an autumn forest, Yoda has a life worth envying. Partnering with such great companies as VAI-KO clothing and Paul Hewitt, this precious little pup lives a life that is more wonderful than most humans.

Elizabeth Spence lives in a beautiful life of threes - three kids, three cats, three dogs. Her dogs, Nora and Remington, make us all want to cuddle up and spend a day sleeping or sitting in an attic room reading a good book. The strong bond between the members of this family, human and animal alike, are amazing to behold. Amelia is one-of-a-kind in the world of hedgehogs, and little known fact, once even appeared in a photo with Princess Cheeto herself. This prickly ball of wonder lives in Vancouver with her owner, Sophia, and is named after the unforgettable Amelia Earhart. She is as fearless as the name implies and even has her own photo studio - an amazing accomplishment for a hedgehog. Due to her small size and nature, Amelia can be found interacting with children’s toys, vegetables or even resting in the palm of Sophia’s hand. There is a feeling of wonder that comes from observing this joyous little ball of goodness being - well, just happy.

And finally, my go-to-place for simple, perfect, I wish I led your life joy. With a following of over 1 million, @thiswildidea is about more than animals, but considering the role that Maddie plays in Theron Humphrey’s life, it is one of my faves. Theron, a North Carolina native and an amazing photographer, loves his coonhound Maddie more than words can convey and these photos prove it. Take one look at her and you know why. Best friends, travel partners, family, soulmates - call it what you will, the amazing places these two go together, the people they meet, the things they do - they are epic journeys to the point of fairytales. Add to this that Theron and Maddie both appear to be two of the kindest, most gentlest souls on the planet and you just win.
A day of fishing, an afternoon of relaxing in a field, a week of camping with friends, Maddie and Theron can just do no wrong.
